The atom86 network.

Core.

The core of the atom86 network consists of two Juniper MX960 3D routers. The MX960 platform is the industry's largest-capacity Carrier Ethernet platform, with up to 2.6 terabits per second (Tbit/s) of switching and routing capacity.

Edge.

All customer connections are delivered on Cisco Catalyst switches enabling dual BGP to both core routers for BGP customers and VRRP - automatic failover - for non-BGP customers. These switches are redundantly connected to the core routers over diversely routed Dark Fiber. This guarantees uptime in case of maintenance or an outage on part of the atom86 backbone.

Dark Fiber.

All locations within the atom86 network are redundantly connected with diversely routed Dark Fiber. Dark Fibers enable atom86 to upgrade capacity when required using higher capacity optics, ports, CWDM and/or DWDM. Within the atom86 backbone an upgrade policy at 50% utilization is in place.

24/7 NOC.

The atom86 routers, switches, backbone links, upstream providers and customers are monitored 24/7 using monitoring software from Nagios, Cacti and APAMS!.

When a critical alert is generated, our engineers are automatically paged and will investigate the issue.
